Biography (fr/eng)
Yann Laubscher (1986, CH) vit et travaille à Lausanne en Suisse. Après un Master en sciences naturelles, il a étudié la photographie à l’École supérieure d’arts appliqués de Vevey (CEPV). Il a rédigé son mémoire sur les liens entre exploration et photographie. Son approche documentaire traite principalement des relations complexes qu’entretiennent les humains avec la nature. Son travail principal, L’Appel, est lié à l’exploration depuis 2010 de territoires sauvages de la Russie, comme la Sibérie, le Kamtchatka et l’Oural. Son travail a fait l’objet d’expositions en Suisse et en France. Sa série M38 aborde les préoccupations liées au monde sauvage en Suisse et la notion de parcours, en abordant la figure du loup comme symbole de créature fugitive et insaisissable. Ce travail a fait l'objet d'une exposition personnelle au PhotoforumPasquArt en 2015. Yann Laubscher a reçu le prix Camera Clara pour ses photographies réalisées à la chambre tirées de la série L'Appel. En 2016, il est le lauréat du Globetrotter World Photo, bourse lui permettant de débuter un nouveau projet en Sibérie, МИРСКОЕ (Ceux du Monde). Il est également éducateur nature et membre de Strates et de NEAR, associations réunissant de nombreux photographes.

Yann Laubscher (1986, CH) lives and works in Lausanne, Switzerland. After university education (master’s degree in natural sciences), he studied advanced training in photography at the School of Applied Arts in Vevey. He wrote his thesis on the links between exploration and photography. His documentary approach deals primarily with the complex relationships between humans and nature. His main work, The Call, is related to exploration since 2010 the wilderness of Russia, such as Siberia, Kamchatka and the Urals. His work has been exhibited in Switzerland and in France. His series M38 addresses concerns related to wilderness in Switzerland and the notion of journey, addressing the wolf's figure as a symbol of fleeting and elusive creature. This work has been the subject of a solo exhibition at PhotoforumPasquArt in 2015. Yann Laubscher received the Prix Clara Camera for his photographs taken with a large format camera from his work The Call. In 2016, he's the laureate of the Globetrotter World Photo, grant that willl allow him to start a new project in Siberia, МИРСКОЕ. He is also nature educator and member of NEAR and Strates, associations involving several photographers.
